RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DULUTH AND THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR GAS MAIN RELOCATION IN LOWER MICHIGAN STREET NEAR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 35 WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS UNDER STATE PROJECT 6982-322 AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $584,440.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into cooperative construction agreement 1034938, substantially in the form of Attachment 1 attached hereto, between the city of Duluth and the Minnesota Department of Transportation, pursuant to which the city will relocate a gas man in Lower Michigan Street to facilitate MnDOT’s Twin Ports Interchange project within the city limits under project number 6982-322 (city project number 1822, at an estimated cost of $584,440. These funds are payable from Gas Fund 520, Department/Agency 500 (Public Works & Utilities), Division 1905 (Capital), Object 5533 (Capital Improvements - Revenue). Reimbursement from MnDot will be receipted to Fund 520 (Gas), Department/Agency 500 (Public Works & Utilities), Division 1900 (Public Work Director Office), Object 4700 (Other Sources).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an agreement with MnDOT to reimburse the city’s share of the costs as part of MnDOT’s I35, I535 and US 53 improvement project (Twin Ports Interchange project). This project relocates the existing gas main currently located within the public right of way. MnDOT will reimburse the city for the entire cost of this project. The estimated cost of this relocation is $584,440.
