CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Egan Company, for the connection of the hot water system between the Duluth Energy System plant and Michigan Street lines for an amount not to exceed $929,810.00, payable from fund 540-920-1499-5530 (steam; steam department; steam non-operating; improvements other than buildings).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Egan Company for the connection of the new hot water system between the Duluth Energy System’s (DES) plant and Michigan Street. Work includes the expansion of the DES steam tunnel, modification of the existing steam piping support structures, removal and relocation of the steam mains drip legs, and the installation of hot water piping, fittings, valves, and appurtenances for an amount not to exceed $929,810.00.
Purchasing issued an Invitation for Bids on October 21, 2019 and received three bids. The bid submitted by Egan Company was determined to be the lowest responsive bid.
