RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF REIMBURSEMENT FUNDING FROM THE OFFICE OF NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL POLICY, HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREAS (HIDTA) PROGRAM, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $100,000, FOR THE 2020 LAKE SUPERIOR DRUG CORRIDOR INITIATIVE.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept reimbursement funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program; said monies to be used to reimburse the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force for expenses incurred during participation in the 2020 Lake Superior Drug Corridor Initiative as more fully set forth in the budget attached hereto as Exhibit A.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city shall serve as the fiscal agent and depository of funds generated for the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force in connection with its participation in the HIDTA Program, funds to be deposited in fund no. 215-200-2230-4209-02 (Duluth police federal grant programs, operations).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the acceptance of reimbursement funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program, to support the 2020 Lake Superior Drug Corridor Initiative, through the operations of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.  The function of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force is to promote coordination and cooperation between member agencies in addressing drug, gang, and violent crime in the Duluth Superior metropolitan and surrounding areas.  This is a new reimbursement funding source.  The reimbursement period will begin 10/31/2019 and end 10/30/2021.
