RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH EVER-GREEN ENERGY, INC. TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE STEAM TO HOT WATER CONVERSION OF THE REGIONAL EXCHANGE DISTRICT FOR A TOTAL CONTRACT NOT TO EXCEED $505,000.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement, substantially in the form attached as Exhibit A, with Ever-Green Energy, Inc. for professional engineering services for the Regional Exchange District steam to hot water conversion for a total contract not to exceed $505,000, payable from 540-920-1499-5530 (steam, steam department, steam non-operating, improvements other than buildings).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an agreement with Ever-Green Energy, Inc. for professional engineering services to support the specialized energy pipeline, in-building and in-plant infrastructure, business development consulting, and associated analyses, contracts, and communication for extension of the hot water system to the Essentia and St. Luke’s hospitals in the Regional Exchange District.

Due to the complicated and specialized nature of the Superior Street Reconstruction Hot Water System project, the city issued a Request for Proposals for professional engineering services and subsequently awarded the contract to Ever-Green Energy, Inc. The Regional Exchange District project is an extension of the specialized thermal utility work on Superior Street.

The costs for this project will be reimbursed by state bonding funds appropriated for the Regional Exchange District.
