RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A GRANT TO THE SPIRIT MOUNTAIN RECREATION AREA AUTHORITY IN THE AMOUNT OF $235,000 TO OFFSET FINANCIAL LOSSES DUE TO THE WEATHER-RELATED CANCELLATION OF THE 2019 AMSOIL DULUTH NATIONAL SNOCROSS RACE.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area Authority (“Authority”) has requested city assistance to contribute $235,000 to offset financial losses due to the weather-related cancellation of the AMSOIL Duluth National Snocross race event.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the city to make a contribution to assure the sustainability of Authority operations.
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to grant to the Authority a total amount not to exceed $235,000 for operating assistance, said amount to be payable from Tourism Tax Fund 258 unappropriated fund balance.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the city to grant to the Authority $235,000 for operating assistance due to financial losses incurred as a result of the weather-related cancellation of the AMSOIL Duluth National Snocross race.
