RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION OF A MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, NO CHILD LEFT INSIDE GRANT, OF $49,999 FOR MOUNTAIN BIKE FLEET AND EQUIPMENT PURCHASE FOR YOUTH PROGRAMMING.

CITY PROPOSAL:

WHERE AS, the grant award will be used to purchase mountain bikes and equipment that will allow the parks and recreation division to expand program offerings across the city for youth.

 

WHERE AS, the proper city officials are hereby authorized to apply for a grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources - No Child Left Inside grant in the amount of $49,999 for mountain bike fleet and equipment purchases. Funds to be deposited to 205-130-1219-4270 (Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Operating, Other Grants).

 

WHERE AS, the city has authorization to apply for the grant for mountain bike equipment purchases substantially in the form of Exhibit A and Exhibit B.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: 

This resolution authorizes application to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, No Child Left Inside program, for $49,999 for purchase of a 28-bike mountain bike fleet and equipment, and funding for staff training, program management, and maintenance. For the two-year period of the grant, the parks and recreation division will use the fleet to provide no-cost programming in collaboration with nonprofit partners with an emphasis on lowering financial barriers to enjoyment of outdoor recreation. Following the grant period, the city will adopt a fee schedule with low or no-cost programming available for those who cannot pay.
