CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a grant award from the state of Minnesota department of public safety, office of justice programs in the total amount of $206,793 to support the 2020 community justice reinvestment project; and further are authorized to execute a grant agreement, substantially the same as the attached Exhibit B, funds to be deposited in Fund No.215-200-2218-4220-02 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, Community Justice Reinvestment Grant, State of Minnesota Operating) and expenses to be paid from Fund No. 215-200-2218-5700-10 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, Community Justice Reinvestment Grant, Interfund Transfer Out To General Fund).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a grant whose budget is attached as Exhibit A from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety in the amount of $206,793 to expand the capacity of the Duluth Police Department to respond to non-chronic, moderate to low risk people who experience mental health episodes, through the addition of a mental health officer. The period of the grant award is from January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2021.
