CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to purchase a 2020 Elgin Pelican NP Street Sweeper from MacQueen Equipment in the amount of $230,092, payable from fund 250-015-2020-5580; Project CE250-V2002 (Capital Equipment-Public Administration-Fiscal Year 2020-Capital Equipment; Capital Equipment Fund 250, Sweeper- Street Maintenance.)
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of a 2020 Elgin Pelican NP Dual Three-Wheel Street Sweeper in the amount of $230,092.
This unit will replace Unit 3268, an Elgin Pelican Street Sweeper purchased in 2007. A 2014-2015 Fleet study found that City vehicle maintenance costs are reduced when street maintenance vehicles of this type are traded in, repurposed, or auctioned when reaching eight (8) years of age. Unit 3268, purchased for $151,181, has exceeded this recommended replacement age by five years and has incurred $134,619.85 in maintenance costs to date. It is the oldest street sweeper in the fleet and will be sold at auction.
This purchase is against Minnesota State Contract 153288, Release S-843(5).
