RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE 2020 DULUTH BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP APPRECIATION AWARD.

BY COUNCILOR FORSMAN AND COUNCILOR MEDVED:
WHEREAS, local businesses and entrepreneurs are critically important to sustaining a successful and healthy community; and
WHEREAS, Duluth has an abundance and diversity of hard-working, innovative, and creative business owners and entrepreneurs across many industries; and
WHEREAS, a core component of the Imagine Duluth 2035 comprehensive plan is that Duluth’s economic environment will promote growth through an expanded tax base and the creation of new jobs and innovative ideas; and
WHEREAS, public recognition is an opportunity to acknowledge the important role of local businesses and entrepreneurs in Duluth; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Duluth city council hereby establish the 2020 Duluth Business and Entrepreneurship Appreciation Award.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that each member of the city council may bestow one Duluth Business and Entrepreneurship Appreciation Award during 2020.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution establishes the 2020 Duluth Business and Entrepreneurship Appreciation Award to recognize the importance of local businesses and entrepreneurs in Duluth. Each city councilor may bestow one Duluth Business and Entrepreneurship Appreciation Award in 2020 based on criteria determined by the councilor.
