CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with Core & Main LP for the sole source purchase of sixteen (16) 20-inch AVK butterfly valves, payable from 510-500-1905-5533, Util-1851 (water, public works and utilities, capital (incl deprec/debt svc), capital improvements-revenue, utility projects, 2nd Street reconstruction).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the sole source purchase of sixteen (16) 20-inch AVK butterfly valves at a cost of $4,935.00 per unit for the 2nd Street Reconstruction project.
The AVK valves required for this project are large twenty-inch valves that are different from other butterfly valves due to the non-standard body length between connection ends to accommodate the larger HDPE pipe. No other valve manufacturers are accommodating the HDPE pipe at this time; and Core and Main is the proprietary distributor for the AVK brand in our area. Previous attempts at using valves modified to fit our needs have been unsuccessful and the City’s Engineering Division has determined that the AVK valves are necessary for HDPE pipe larger than twelve inches in diameter to guarantee proper function.
