RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE MINNESOTA STATE TRANSPORTATION FUND FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGE L8156 AT FAIRMONT STREET OVER TISCHER CREEK IN THE AMOUNT OF $746,517.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth has applied to the commissioner of transportation for a grant from the Minnesota state transportation fund for the reconstruction of Bridge L8156 at Fairmont Street over Tischer Creek, city project no 1234.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the grant has been approved and that the amount of the grant is $746,517.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth agrees to the terms and conditions of the grant consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section 174.50, and will pay any additional amount by which the cost exceeds the estimate, and will return to the Minnesota state transportation fund any amount appropriated for the project but not required. The proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a grant agreement, substantially in the form of the attached Exhibit A, concerning the above referenced grant. Grant monies shall be deposited into Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department/Agency 035 (Capital Projects Accounts), Object 4220-01 (State of Minnesota Capital), city project no. 1234, S.A.P. 118-080-059.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes acceptance of a grant in the amount of $746,517 from the Minnesota State Transportation Fund for the replacement of two failing steel culverts with a new bridge over Tischer Creek on Fairmont Street, and reconstruction of the roadway from the bridge to Woodland Avenue, city project no. 1234, S.A.P. 118-080-059.
