Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF 108TH AVENUE WEST AS PART OF MITIGATION PROCESS TO REDUCE ILLEGAL DUMPING AND COSTLY CLEANUP EFFORTS

Body

BY COUNCILORS MEDVED AND KENNEDY:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to temporarily close a portion of 108th Avenue West from Becks Road to a point 300 feet north of the Dickson Street intersection to vehicular traffic, as further depicted and described in Exhibit A attached hereto.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that said temporary closure to vehicular traffic shall occur indefinitely until reopening via council resolution.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes temporary closure of 108th Avenue West from Becks Road to a point 300 feet north of the Dickson Street intersection. A traffic study will be conducted by city staff to determine future recommendations for permanent closure. It is recommended by the Fire Department Life Safety & Solid Waste Compliance Divisions and Public Works & Utilities Department that this portion of roadway be closed due to high amount of illegal activity and dumping. Cleanup efforts are time consuming and costly. Neighborhood stakeholders and city staff are in support of a temporary closure until traffic studies are completed.
