CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, The City of Duluth has committed some funding to develop a Natural Resource Management Program for its' open space public lands to protect, restore and manage these areas for its' natural resources.

WHEREAS, the City is fortunate to have supporting agencies and partners working to protect, restore and manage our resources on a watershed basis

WHEREAS, an inter-agency Natural Resource Management Program will help the City and its' partners prioritize and strategize data collection and analysis, on-the-ground restoration projects and define a sustainable framework to monitor and manage these lands

WHEREAS, the program will help define responsible partners and future funding opportunities

WHEREAS, the Natural Resource Commission will serve as an advisory to the planning process

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Duluth hereby supports the submission of an application for up to $75,000 to the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Coastal Program - Great Lakes Restoration Initiative to help with the preparation of Duluth's Natural Resource Management Program, as referenced in Exhibit A.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Duluth agrees to accept the grant award if awarded, and the proper city officials are authorized to enter into a grant agreement.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes application for a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Coastal Program Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant for up to $75,000 to develop an inter-agency Duluth Natural Resource Management Program Plan.
