RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A PERMANENT GAS PIPELINE EASEMENT FROM MINNESOTA POWER OVER, UNDER, AND ACROSS PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE LINCOLN PARK NEIGHBORHOOD, AT NO COST TO THE CITY.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept, substantially in the form attached as Exhibit 1, from Minnesota Power, a division of Allete, Inc., a non-exclusive, perpetual utility easement for gas pipeline purposes over, under, and across the lands legally described and depicted on Exhibit A attached to Exhibit 1, at no cost to the City.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the acceptance of a non-exclusive, perpetual utility easement for gas pipeline purposes from Minnesota Power, a division of Allete, Inc., over, under, and across property located near Garfield Avenue and W. Michigan Street, at no cost to the City.
The City desires to re-route a steel gas main that is currently hanging from the overpass abutment of Garfield Avenue. Replacement of this gas main is part of the City’s Integrity Management Plan because the main is exposed and susceptible to atmospheric corrosion. The acceptance of this easement allows for the City to construct and operate a new plastic gas pipeline located underneath the ground.
