CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Veit & Company, Inc. for shoreline rehabilitation near the Lakewood water treatment plant for a total amount not to exceed $604,750, payable from fund 225-125-1815-5310-STRM1018 (Disaster Recovery Fund; Finance; Contract Services; Storm Surge October 10, 2018).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Veit & Company, Inc. for shoreline rehabilitation near the Lakewood water treatment plant for an amount not to exceed $604,750.
A 355-foot section of shoreline behind the Lakewood water treatment plant was severely damaged in the October 2018 storm. Construction will include stabilization of the shoreline and repairs to two storm sewer outfalls, and replacement of displaced revetment stone with heavier armor stone.
Prior to the bid, the engineer’s cost estimate for the project was $979,950. The low bid came in nearly 40% below estimate. It is anticipated that 75% of costs will be reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and 25% will be reimbursed by Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Purchasing issued an Invitation to Bid on April 8, 2020, and received four bids as listed below. Veit & Company, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive bid.
