RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A 2020 CARES ACT GRANT FROM ST. LOUIS COUNTY IN THE AMOUNT OF $45,027 FOR 2020 ELECTION COST REIMBURSEMENT AS ALLOCATED BY THE STATE OF MINNESOTA AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH ST. LOUIS COUNTY.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, pursuant to Laws of Minnesota 2020, Chapter 77, section 4, the state of Minnesota allocated CARES Act funding for election cost reimbursement related to the prevention of, preparation for, and response to coronavirus, to be disbursed to county election officials and thereby to local election officials as determined by the county; and
WHEREAS, the St. Louis County Board adopted Resolution 20-0457 on September 22, 2020, adopting the default allocation to local election offices in St. Louis County as determined by the office of the Minnesota Secretary of State; and
WHEREAS, $45,027.00 has been allocated to the city of Duluth for coronavirus related election costs incurred for the August 11, 2020 Primary Election and November 3, 2020 General Election.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a 2020 CARES Act grant award from St. Louis County, in the amount of $45,027.00, funds to be deposited in Revenue Fund 110-122-1211-4700 (General, Administrative Services, City Clerk, Other Sources);
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a grant agreement, substantially the same as the one attached hereto as Exhibit A, with St. Louis County, Minnesota.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a grant in the amount of $45,027 for reimbursement of costs incurred related to the prevention, preparation for, and response to coronavirus for the 2020 election cycle pursuant to Laws of Minnesota 2020, Chapter 77, section 4.
