RESOLUTION APPROVING VARIOUS DULUTH TRANSIT AUTHORITY RATE CHANGES EFFECTIVE MARCH 7, 2021

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, on January 27, 2021, the Duluth Transit Authority Board passed a resolution approving various rate changes effective March 7, 2021, and contingent on city council approval;
WHEREAS, the city council held a public hearing on the proposed fare changes on February 22, 2021.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the council hereby approves the following rate changes effective March 7, 2021:
a. All final fare prices shall be rounded to the nearest 5 cents; the use of pennies shall be eliminated;
b. “Teen” also known as “Youth” pass monthly fees shall be reduced from $37.50 to $30.00;
c. 90, 180, and 365-day passes shall no longer be offered; existing 90, 180, and 365-day passes shall remain in effect;
d. Day pass fees shall be reduced from $4.00 to $3.00; and
e. Seven-day (weekly) pass fees shall be reduced from $17.00 to $15.00.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to approve Duluth Transit Authority rate changes pursuant to Minn. Stat. 458A.26(g)(“no change in fares shall be made except upon public hearing before the city council, and approval by the city council, of any such change in fares”).
