RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT L30393 WITH CORVAL CONSTRUCTORS, INC., FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE DULUTH ENERGY SYSTEMS HOT WATER CONVERSION SYSTEM BALANCE OF PLANT INFRASTRUCTURE, INCREASING THE CONTRACT AMOUNT BY $1,062,741.50 FOR A NEW TOTAL OF $4,367,781.50.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to amend contract L30393 with Corval Constructors, Inc. for a steam converter system, increasing the amount by $1,062,741.50 for a new total contract amount not to exceed $4,367,781.50, payable from fund 540-920-1499-5530 (steam; steam department; steam non-operating; improvements other than buildings).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an increase in the amount of $1,062,741.50 to contract L30393 with Corval Constructors, Inc. for the construction of mechanical, structural and architectural infrastructure to support the installation of a skid-built packaged steam converter system (SCS) in the DES Plant, for a new total contract amount not to exceed $4,367,781.50.
Previous change orders authorized on this contract are as follows:
Change Order 1 in the amount of $397,732 was approved on August 18, 2020.
Change Order 2 in the amount of $158,565 was approved on September 18, 2020.
Change Order 3 in the amount of $141,670.50 was approved on September 28, 2020.
Change Order 4 in the amount of $103,561 was approved on October 21, 2020.
Change Order 5 in the amount of $261,213 is for changes to hangers and conduit, tie-in locations, additional materials and additional cost to steam trace the exterior portion of the air separator blowdown piping. This Change Order will increase the contract amount over the 25% threshold requiring Council approval. This is the final Change Order.
