RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF SOLID WASTE COMPLIANCE OFFICER, INCLUDING A TITLE CHANGE TO PROPERTY & SOLID WASTE COMPLIANCE OFFICER, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of solid waste compliance officer, including a title change to property & solid waste compliance officer (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on January 20, 2021, are approved.  This classification shall remain subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall change to Range 30, pay rate of $4,587 to $5,426 per month, from Range 29, pay rate of $4,413 to $5,184 per month.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The existing classification of solid waste compliance officer has been revised (including a title change to property & solid waste compliance officer) to incorporate solid waste and housing inspector duties to form a hybrid role that will fulfill the needs of the life safety division and offer an advancement opportunity between housing inspector and lead housing inspector. This combined role also offers additional solid waste compliance coverage for the east and west side of the city. The pay range negotiated for this classification is Range 30, pay rate of $4,587 to $5,426 per month. This is a change from Range 29, pay rate of $4,413 to $5,184 per month.
