CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with Tenvoorde Motor Co. for the purchase of seven (7) 2021 Ford Interceptors in the amount of $259,505.68, payable from 250-015-2021-5580, CE250-V2103 (Capital Equipment, Public Administration, Fiscal Year 2021, Capital Equipment; Capital Equipment Fund 250, Police Vehicles).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of seven 2021 Ford Utility Police Interceptors for patrol operations at a cost of $259,505.68. This model is equipped with a V6 Direct-Injection Hybrid Engine System and is the first-ever pursuit-rated hybrid SUV. The hybrid engine provides the opportunity for significant fuel savings, particularly while the vehicle is idling, as well as a potential 25,000 pound reduction in CO2 output per year, per vehicle.
A 2014-2015 Fleet study found that City vehicle maintenance costs are reduced when units of this type are traded in, repurposed, or auctioned between 5 and 8 years or 100,000 miles. This purchase will allow for the replacement of seven retired marked police vehicles.
This purchase is against Minnesota State Contract 158505, Release A-174(5).
