RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A $10,000 CONTRIBUTION FROM THE INDIGENOUS WOMEN’S WATER SISTERHOOD FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE WAABIZHESHIKANA: THE MARTEN TRAIL INTERPRETIVE PLAN

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth does hereby accept, as a gift from the Indigenous Women’s Water Sisterhood, a $10,000 contribution to be deposited into

452-030-4660 HANDHTAX 1501-04 (tourism and recreational projects, finance, gifts and donations, half and half, WWFT project) for trail interpretation design and installation of Waabizheshikana: The Marten Trail.

FURTHER RESOLVED, the city hereby expresses its appreciation for this gift on behalf of the city and its citizens.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution is to accept a $10,000 gift from the Indigenous Women’s Water Sisterhood.

The contribution is to implement an interpretive component of the Waabizheshikana: The Marten Trail Interpretive Plan. These funds will be used for design and installation services associated with a gathering place along the trail, including interpretive signage.

The location and timing of the improvement will likely coincide with planned 2023 extension of the trail in the vicinity of Munger Landing in association with an EPA/MPCA contaminated sediment remediation project.
