CITY PROPOSAL:

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission (MASC), via State Bonding funding, provides for general funds to assist political subdivisions of the State of Minnesota for the fulfillment of the purpose and goals of the Skate Park Grant Program, and

WHEREAS, the City of Duluth desires to complete its project named GND REC skate park at Gary New Duluth Community Recreation Area located at 801-101st Avenue West, Duluth, MN 55808.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Duluth supports the grant application made to the State of Minnesota on behalf of the GND Development Alliance in the amount not to exceed $125,000 for phase II and III skate park improvements at the Gary New Duluth Community Recreation Area.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth has the legal authority to apply for the money, and financial, technical and managerial capacity to ensure proper planning and maintenance of the project.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Duluth agrees to enter into necessary and required agreements with both the GND Development Alliance and the MASC for the specific purpose of completing the project.

FURTHER RESOLVED, the City will provide up to $125,000 match dollars from fund 452-030-4220-01-HANDHTAX-1512 (tourism and recreational projects, finance, state and Minnesota capital, half and half tax projects, Gary New Duluth Rec Area).

FURTHER RESOLVED, the Duluth city council names the fiscal agent for this project as Jennifer Carlson, Finance Department Director, City of Duluth, and authorizes her to execute said application and serve as the official liaison with the MASC.
