CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Kramer Well Drilling LLC dba Kramer Service Group for the Downtown Duluth Fiber Expansion Project for a total amount not to exceed $264,250; payable from fund 210-030-3152-5441 (Special Projects Fund, Finance, Telecommunications Infrastructure, Other Services & Charges).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Kramer Service Group for the construction and installation of a downtown fiber network expansion. This expansion will include fiber out from city hall to connect into fire hall headquarters, as well as extend fiber into the Duluth Transit Center for the police substation. With this expansion, the City will reduce leased fiber expenses for fire headquarters, the Main Library, and the downtown police substation. This fiber construction is foundational in continuing to expand internal operational networking for additional city facilities and IoT devices like traffic signals, street lights, parking pay stations, public cameras, wireless networking and automated meter reading systems.
Purchasing issued an invitation to bid on May 18, 2021, and received 4 bids as listed below. Kramer Service Group submitted the lowest responsive bid.
