RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH LHB, INC. FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES TO PROVIDE DESIGN SERVICES AND CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION FOR THE EAST FIRST STREET AND EAST FIRST STREET ALLEY RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $454,080.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with LHB, Inc., substantially in the form of the attached Exhibit A, to provide professional engineering design and construction services for the East First Street and East First Street Alley Reconstruction Project, payable out of the Permanent Improvement fund 411, Department/Agency 035 (Capital Projects Accounts), Object 5530 (Improvements Other than Buildings), city project no. 2004.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an agreement with LHB, Inc., for professional engineering design and construction services for the reconditioning or reconstruction of East First Street from Fifth Avenue East to Ninth Avenue East as well as of the East First Street Alley from the end of City Project 1842 (construction of water main in East First Street from Fourth Avenue East to Fifth Avenue East) to Seventh Avenue East. Regional Exchange District Bond funds will be used for construction.  Due to the complexity and time frame of bidding this project, the city requested the services of a consultant engineer.

LHB, Inc, has provided professional engineering and construction services for the other Regional Exchange District projects in the area. Due to their unique experience and familiarity with the projects in the area, LHB, Inc. was the sole firm from which a proposal for professional engineering and construction services was solicited.
