Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MODIFICATION OF A 2020 COUNCIL RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF 108TH AVENUE WEST.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that in 2020 a temporary roadblock was established on a portion of 108th Avenue West in order to reduce or discourage illegal dumping.

RESOLVED,                     that a new property owner on 108th Avenue West wishes to make use of their property in order to construct a new single-family home, and the roadblock is not allowing vehicular access to their property.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to modify or remove the temporary roadblock that closed a portion of 108th Avenue West from Becks Road.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution amends a 2020 resolution, 20-0263, that closed a portion of 108th Avenue West. The resolution ordered that no modifications of the closure be allowed without approval via council resolution, shown as Attachment 1 and Attachment 2.

Property fronting 108th Avenue West (010-2730-00235) for a length of approximately 800 feet has been purchased by a new owner who wishes to construct a new single-family home in 2022.  In order to begin site preparation work for the future home, the property owner needs to get vehicular access to the site, which is currently denied by the council authorized roadblock.  The new property owner has asked that the roadblock that cuts 108th Avenue West off from Becks Road be removed as shown in Attachment 3, in order to allow access to an existing driveway to the property.

Further adjustments to the road block by city staff would be permissible without requiring future city council resolutions.
