RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF $189,206 IN CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE AND RELIEF SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF MINNESOTA AND COMMITTING TO USE SAID FUNDS FOR PERMITTED EQUIPMENT PURCHASES.

 

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

 

WHEREAS, the state of Minnesota has received Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) funds to cover the reductions in revenues that would normally have been used to provide assistance to local jurisdictions to be used to maintain local roads; and

 

WHEREAS, the state has determined to allocate a portion of the CRRSAA funds it received to local jurisdictions to replace a portion of the assistance it would have normally provided; and

 

WHEREAS, the city’s portion of said allocation is $189,206; and

 

WHEREAS, the Street Maintenance Division of the Public Works and Utilities Department has requested that said funds be used to purchase qualifying street maintenance equipment, which request the state has approved;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the city is hereby authorized to accept $189,206 in CRRSAA funds from the state of Minnesota, which funds will be deposited in Fund 210-030-3207-4210-01 (Special Projects, Finance, Street Maintenance Grant, Pass-Through Federal Grants Capital); and

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that said funds shall be used solely or in conjunction with other city funds for the purchase of street maintenance equipment qualifying for the use of said fund under the CRRSAA.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city to accept $189,206 in Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act funds from the State of Minnesota and committing to use said funds for the purchase of equipment eligible under the CRRSAA program to be used for street maintenance operations.
