Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes contract increases in Emergency Solutions Grant authorized by the 2020 Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act. Funds from ESG-CV-1 and ESG-CV-2 were provided through the U.S. CARES Act, which passed on March 26, 2020 to provide emergency response funding to communities through the U.S. by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City received and allocated $1,972,199 as evidenced by resolutions 21-0578R and 21-0192R. Remaining unallocated funds in the amount of $225,670 will support the CHUM project to improve sanitation and the spread of COVID-19 in the CHUM Shelter, which experienced an increase of $2,693 related to restroom upgrades.  Additionally, $222,977 will support the Safe Haven shelter remodel project to support a substantial remodel of their primary facility, to assist with better delivery of service, client privacy, and prevention of the potential spread of COVID-19.
