Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A THREE-YEAR PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH M & T FIRE AND SAFETY INC. FOR STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTING TURNOUT GEAR IN THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $228,000.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with M & T Fire and Safety Inc., for the purchase of structural firefighting turnout gear in years 2022, 2023 and 2024 in the estimated amount of $228,000, payable from 250-015-2022-5580 (Capital Equipment, Public Administration, Fiscal Years 2022, 2023, 2024 Capital Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment/Turnout Gear).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the purchase of structural firefighting turnout gear from M & T Fire and Safety. The 2022-2024 Capital Equipment Plan includes funding for turnout gear and personal protective equipment in the following amounts: $95,000 in 2022, $65,000 in 2023, and $68,000 in 2024.

Damaged turnout gear may be professionally repaired, but must be removed from service if beyond repair, or past the ten-year expiration date. All Fire Department firefighters are issued two complete sets of turnout gear per the requirements outlined in article 40 of the CBA. This purchase will replace gear that has been removed from service and ensure firefighters are equipped according to National Fire Protection Association standards.

The City Purchasing issued an invitation to bid on September 9, 2021 for a three (3) year purchase agreement for turnout gear for the Fire Department. M & T Fire and Safety Inc. submitted the lowest bid meeting the specifications developed by the firefighting gear turnout committee at a bid price of $2,704 per set of firefighting turnout gear.
