RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A TASK FORCE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE DULUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT AND HOMELAND SECURITY INVESTIGATIONS (HSI) AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF REIMBURSEMENT MONIES FROM HSI FOR OVERTIME EXPENSES INCURRED IN SUPPORT OF THE TASK FORCE.

 

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement substantially the same as the attached Document A with Homeland Security Investigations for the participation in the tactical diversion task force for the purpose of investigating individuals and organizations involved in the sexual exploitation and victimization of children.

 

                     FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept funds from the Treasury Forfeiture Fund, pursuant to the terms of the task force agreement, for reimbursement of Duluth police officer overtime expenses incurred in support of the task force, said funds to be deposited in Fund number 215-200-2237-4210 (Police grant programs, Police, Homeland Security Investigations, Pass-thru federal grants), and funds paid out of 215-200-2237-5700-10 (Police grant programs, Police, Homeland Security Investigations, Interfund Transfers Out to General Fund).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to execute a task force agreement with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for the participation by the Duluth Police Department on the Joint Operations Task Force. The primary mission of the task force is to investigate individuals and organizations involved in the sexual exploitation and victimization of children. This resolution further authorizes the city of Duluth to accept monies from HSI to reimburse the Duluth Police Department for overtime expenses incurred by the Duluth police officer working with the task force. This is a renewal of an existing contract.
