CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a grant award from the state of Minnesota, commissioner of public safety, office of justice programs, in the amount of $810,000, substantially the same as Document A for the purpose of supporting the operations of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force for the term beginning 1/1/2022 and ending 12/31/2023, funds to be deposited in Fund No. 215-200-2208-4220-02 (Duluth police grant programs, police, violent crime enforcement teams, state of Minnesota operations) and expenses to be paid from Fund 215-200-2208-5700-10 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, VCET, Interfund Transfers Out to General Fund) and Fund 215-200-2208-5447 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, VCET Payment to Other Government Agencies) and 215-200-2208-5360 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, Violent Crime Enforcement Teams, Insurance).

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a renewal grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to support the operations of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force through December 31, 2023.The Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force has been in existence since 1991 and is a legal entity pursuant to the Joint Powers Agreement. The function of the Task Force is to promote coordination and cooperation between member agencies in addressing drug, gang, and violent crime in the Duluth Superior metropolitan area.
