Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to amend agreement L 30144 with Frontier Energy, Inc. for professional services relating to the Public Works and Utilities’ commercial and industrial energy conservation improvement program (CIP) to help achieve the 1.0% energy savings required by the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Division of Energy Resources. The amendment will increase the agreement by $4,969.00 resulting in a new total amount not to exceed $88,969.00, payable from fund 520-500-1940-2440-5487 (gas fund, public works and utilities, customer services, conservation improvement).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an amendment to increase agreement L 30144 with Frontier Energy, Inc. (formerly Energy Insight, Inc.) to provide professional services to increase the capacity of the commercial and industrial conservation program.

Frontier Energy is a provider of energy management services for a variety of gas utilities and large industrial and commercial organizations and has assisted Public Works and Utilities by enhancing existing programs and developing new ones to meet the Division of Energy Resources mandate to reduce 1.0% of annual natural gas sales through conservation programs.

The increase to the agreement is necessary for the creation of a tracking tool for capturing CIP savings. The CIP tracking tool will allow us to see in real time the dollars spent on CIP programs as well as the DTH savings; and will assist in planning for and reaching the goals set by the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
