CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to purchase delivered class 5 gravel, 3/4-inch crushed, washed rock and washed sand from Duluth Ready Mix, Inc., in year 2022, for an estimated total amount not to exceed $314,370 payable as follows:
$103,512.50 510-500-1945-5224 (water fund, public works and utilities, utility operations, gravel and other mtce materials)
$ 59,450.00 520-500-1945-5224 (gas fund, public works and utilities, utility operations, gravel and other mtce materials)
$ 42,143.75 530-500-1945-5224 (sewer fund, public works and utilities, utility operations, gravel and other mtce materials)
$ 45,043.75 535-500-1945-5224 (stormwater fund, public works and utilities, utility operations, gravel and other mtce materials)

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of delivered class 5 gravel, 3/4-inch crushed, washed rock and sand from Duluth Ready Mix, Inc., to be used by public works and utilities and street maintenance in year 2022, for an estimated amount of $314,370.
The purchasing division posted an invitation for bids on December 7, 2021, and received four bids. After careful review, the purchasing agent split the award and Duluth Ready Mix, Inc. was determined the low bid for Class V, 3/4-inch crushed, washed rock and washed sand. The prices shown below reflect a 19.5% increase from last year due to rising fuel prices and the increased demand brought on by the size and number of construction projects in the area.
