RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A TASK FORCE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE DULUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE UNITED STATES DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION (DEA) AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF REIMBURSEMENT MONIES FROM THE DEA FOR OVERTIME EXPENSES INCURRED IN SUPPORT OF THE TASK FORCE.

 

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement substantially the same as the attached Document A with the United States drug enforcement administration for the participation in the tactical diversion task force for the purpose of investigating individuals and organizations involved in trafficking controlled substance pharmaceuticals and synthetic drugs.

                     FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept funds from the Unites States drug enforcement administration, pursuant to the terms of the task force agreement, for reimbursement of Duluth police officer overtime expenses incurred in support of the task force, said funds to be deposited in Fund number 110-160-1610-4655 (general fund, police, administration and investigation, Drug Task Force Reimbursement).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to execute a task force agreement with the United States Drug Enforcement (DEA) Administration for the participation by the Duluth Police Department on the Tactical Diversion Task Force. The primary mission of the task force is to investigate, disrupt and dismantle individuals and/or organizations involved in trafficking controlled substance pharmaceuticals and/or synthetic drugs. This resolution further authorizes the city of Duluth to accept monies from the DEA to reimburse the Duluth Police Department for overtime expenses incurred by the Duluth police officer working with the task force. This is a renewal of an existing contract.
