RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF LIBRARY SAFETY SPECIALIST, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of library safety specialist (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on May 10, 2022, are approved. This classification shall be subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 124, pay rate of $42,143 to $48,624 per year.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of library safety specialist has been created to help support the library's mission of maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in the community. This position will be responsible for greeting patrons, helping ensure that they understand and follow the library's behavior policy, and de-escalate situations as needed. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 124, pay rate of $42,143 to $48,624 per year.
