RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA FOR THE DULUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MINNESOTA FINANCIAL CRIMES TASK FORCE AND TO ACCEPT REIMBURSEMENT MONIES.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED: that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a joint powers agreement, substantially the same as the attached Document A, with the state of Minnesota, for the Duluth Police Department to participate in the Minnesota financial crimes task force.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept reimbursement monies from the state of Minnesota for overtime salary and fringe benefits relating to the Duluth police department's participation on the task force, with reimbursement monies to be deposited in Fund number 215-200-2259-4220-02 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, MN Financial Crimes Task Force, State of Minnesota Operating).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to execute a joint powers agreement with the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Public Safety on behalf of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, allowing for the Duluth Police Department's participation on a multi-agency task force known as the Minnesota Financial Crimes Task Force. Under the terms of the agreement, the State of Minnesota will reimburse the Duluth Police Department for overtime salary and benefits.
