Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes acceptance from the US Department of Homeland Security for a Hazard Mitigation grant of $857,939.25 to restore shoreline segments of the Lakewalk that were not damaged by the October 2018 storm but are vulnerable to future harm from similar storms.

The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program helps local governments reduce or eliminate risk to property and loss of life from future natural disasters following a Presidential major disaster declaration.

The City will fulfill the required 25% non-federal match by investing $285,979.75 in the project from tourism tax proceeds.
