CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of signal technician, including a title change to traffic operations electrician (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on June 8, 2022, are approved. This classification shall remain subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall change to Range 33, pay rate of $63,864 to $75,105 per year, from Range 31, pay rate of $58,977 to $69,208 per year.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The existing classification of signal technician has been revised (including a title change to traffic operations electrician) to reflect current work being performed. The new classification title better aligns with the current industry standard, and we hope that it helps attract more candidates to the position. The pay range negotiated for this classification is Range 33, pay rate of $63,864 to $75,105 per year. This is a change from Range 31, pay rate of $58,977 to $69,208 per year.
