RESOLUTION RESCINDING AND REPLACING RESOLUTION 22-0713R AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE A ONE-YEAR AGREEMENT WITH THE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 709 FOR THE DULUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE FOUR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOR A TOTAL OF $296,390 FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that Resolution 22-0713 passed on September 12, 2022, is rescinded.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the Independent School District No. 709 to provide school resource officers in the public schools, said agreement to be substantially in the form attached hereto as Document A; payments from the school district to be deposited into fund number 110-160-1610-4261 (general, police, administration and investigation).
Statement of Purpose
This resolution rescinds and replaces Resolution 22-0713 which was passed by the council on September 12, 2022. Document A accompanying the resolution was a non-final draft of the agreement with ISD No. 709. The current resolution contains the final agreement between the parties and authorizes an agreement between the city of Duluth and ISD No. 709 under which the Duluth police department will provide law enforcement officers in the public schools. This is a one-year agreement. ISD No. 709 will pay the city $74,097.50 per officer in school year 2022-2023 for a total of $296,390 for four officers. Payments will be made on September 1, 2022 and February 15, 2023.
