CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to issue a purchase order to Hawkins, Inc. for the purchase and delivery of water treatment chemicals in 2023 in accordance with city-approved specifications and the vendor's bid totaling $288,450.00 as identified below:

$599.00 per ton for an estimated 100 tons of hydroflurorosilicic acid totaling $59,900.00 payable from 510-500-1955-5216-03 (water fund, Public Works and Utilities, water treatment and pumping, chemicals, hydrofluorosilicic acid); and

$2,395.00 per ton for an estimated 50 tons of liquid chlorine totaling $119,750.00 payable from 510-500-1955-5216-02 (water fund, Public Works and Utilities, water treatment and pumping, chemicals, chlorine); and

$5.44 per gallon for an estimated 20,000 gallons of liquid ammonium sulfate solution totaling $108,800.00 payable from 510-500-1955-5216-04 (water fund, Public Works and Utilities, water treatment and pumping, chemicals, liquid aluminum sulfate).

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase and delivery of water treatment chemicals from Hawkins, Inc. for a total amount of $288,450.00, payable from the water fund.

The chemicals are used for disinfection and fluoridation at the Lakewood water treatment plant, located at 8130 Congdon Boulevard in Duluth. The estimated quantities for hydrofluorosilicic acid and liquid chlorine are based on past need.

The quantity for liquid ammonium sulfate solution is based on an estimate for needs beginning the second half of the year as the water treatment plant is converted from liquid anhydrous ammonia to the liquid aluminum sulfate solution to better control disinfection and corrosion in the system.
