RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH SANITARY BOARD OF THE WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR SANITARY DISTRICT FOR SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL SERVICES FOR AN ANNUAL ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $30,000 AND A TOTAL NOT TO EXCEED $60,000 OVER THE TERM OF THE AGREEMENT.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement in the form substantially attached as Exhibit A with the Sanitary Board of the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD), for solid waste disposal services for an estimated annual amount of $30,000 and a total not to exceed $60,000 payable from fund 110-121-1217-2145-5384 (general fund; Property, Parks & Libraries; maintenance operations; park maintenance; refuse disposal).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an agreement for solid waste disposal services.
The sanitation process for Park Maintenance is being revamped to reduce operational costs associated with processing garbage from parks, reduce environmental impact by saving energy and time for both equipment and staff, and create less waste. A truck outfitted with a dump body will allow City staff to process garbage directly at the tipping floor of WLSSD, reducing the number of dumpsters and contracted trash pick-ups, and allowing staff to handle garbage bags once rather than twice.
