CITY PROPOSAL:

                     RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to purchase two 2023 Elgin Pelican Street Sweepers from MacQueen Equipment in the amount of $290,472.58 each, and a total amount of $580,495.16, payable as follows:

 

$480,945.16                     226-125-5002-6203-5580 (local fiscal recovery funds, finance, utility infrastructure, street sweepers, capital equipment)

 

$100,000.00                     257-025-5580 (energy management, sustainability, capital equipment)

 

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the purchase of a two 2023 Elgin Pelican Street Sweepers in the amount of $580,495.16.

 

This unit will replace Unit 3268 and 3269. A 2014-2015 Fleet study found that City vehicle maintenance costs are reduced when street maintenance vehicles of this type are traded in, repurposed, or auctioned when reaching eight (8) years of age.

 

Unit 3268 is an Elgin Pelican Street Sweeper purchased in 2007. This unit was purchased for $151,181.  It has exceeded the recommended replacement age by eight years and has incurred $142,332 in maintenance costs to date.

 

Unit 3269 is an Elgin Pelican Street Sweeper purchased in 2008. This unit was purchased for $163,800.  It has exceeded this recommended replacement age by seven years and has incurred $227,317 in maintenance costs to date.

 

These units will be used as trade-in or auctioned.

 

This purchase is utilizing American Rescue Plan Act funds and Sustainability funding and is against Minnesota State Contract 153288, Release S-843(5).
