RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN ADDITIONAL 2023 LEGISLATIVE PRIORITY FOR THE CITY OF DULUTH.

BY COUNCILOR TOMANEK, COUNCILOR MAYOU, AND COUNCILOR AWAL:
WHEREAS, the city desires to establish - in addition to the city’s top legislative priorities - additional legislative priorities for 2023, and
WHEREAS, the ability for public meetings to be held remotely or in a hybrid manner is hampered by the restrictions in Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13D; and
WHEREAS, the requirement for in-person meetings has, on occasion, resulted in boards and commissions unable to get a quorum to do the city’s work; and
WHEREAS, the city wishes to make meetings more accessible for all Minnesotans, regardless of ability to be physically present; and
WHEREAS, it is more environmentally sustainable to have fewer people driving to attend meetings.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that an additional 2023 legislative priority for the city of Duluth is for Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13D to be amended to allow for hybrid or remote public meetings when practical.
