RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH EVER-GREEN ENERGY TO FUND THE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF A GEOTHERMAL HEATING SYSTEM IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY COMMUNITY GEOTHERMAL HEATING AND COOLING DESIGN AND DEPLOYMENT PROGRAM GRANT FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $435,084.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement, substantially in the form of that attached Exhibit A, with Ever-Green Energy, Inc., doing business as Duluth Energy Systems, and authorizing payment to Ever-Green Energy of up to $435,084 of funds the city has received from the Department of Energy Community Geothermal Heating And Cooling Design And Deployment Program to fund a portion of the project implementation; said sum to be payable from fund no. 257-025-3002-5310 (Sustainability - Geothermal Grant - Contract Services).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes city officials to execute a subrecipient grant agreement with Ever-Green Energy d/b/a Duluth Energy Systems to provide funds in the amount not to exceed $435,084. Funding will be used by the subrecipient to fund activities related to their portion of the Community Geothermal Heating And Cooling Design And Deployment Program. Ever-Green Energy played a crucial role in writing the grant, receiving the grant award, and will play a critical role in the analysis and design of the project. They will also partner with city staff to plan a strategy for coordinating the West Superior St. rebuild project.
