RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF WATER PLANT MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR, INCLUDING A TITLE CHANGE TO WATER SYSTEM MAINTENANCE FOREPERSON, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of water plant maintenance coordinator, including a title change to water system maintenance foreperson (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on February 6, 2024, are approved. This classification shall remain subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall change to Range 34, pay rate of $70,505 to $82,591 per year, from Range 32, pay rate of $64,834 to $76,102 per year.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The existing classification of water plant maintenance coordinator has been revised (including a title change to water system maintenance foreperson) to update duties based on current needs which include the ability to work as an operator when necessary and act as the first point of contact for emergency and corrective issues with operations/systems. The pay range negotiated for this classification is Range 34, pay rate of $70,505 to $82,591 per year. This is a change from Range 32, pay rate of $64,834 to $76,102 per year.
