CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to apply for a grant of up to $50,000 from the MPCA Local Climate Action Grant program to install energy efficient equipment at City Facilities.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, the city of Duluth has the legal authority to accept the money, and financial, technical and managerial capacity to ensure proper planning and maintenance of the project.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, the city will meet the 1:1 match witDuluthh funds now allocated for energy upgrades.

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, the Duluth city council names the fiscal agent for this project as Jen Carlson, City of Duluth Finance Director, 411 West First Street, Duluth, MN 55802.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The City of Duluth has 41 facilities with older systems and equipment that are extremely energy inefficient. Many facilities directly serve the public including Fire Halls, parks, and community centers. The Facilities division is assessing and upgrading equipment as capacity and funding becomes available. Facilities has multiple projects in progress or scheduled and will leverage the $50,000 grant funds to supplement funds allocated for energy upgrades. Candidate uses for the funds include water heaters powered by heat pumps and/or high efficiency boilers.
