Title

RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN UNCONDITIONAL NON-MONETARY GIFT FROM THE DULUTH POLICE FOUNDATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE DULUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR 2026.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept the donation of an unconditional non-monetary gift with an estimated value of $40,000.00 from the Duluth Police Foundation during 2026 for the use by the Duluth Police Department.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city hereby thanks the Duluth Police Foundation for their generous gifts and continued support.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The Duluth Police Department established the CODE 4 Community Engagement Vehicle in 2019 by repurposing a retired transit bus using grant and donation funding, creating a valuable tool for community outreach and on-site support during extended events. The vehicle has since been widely utilized at hundreds of engagements and has become an important resource for fostering trust and visibility within the community. Due to significant mechanical failures, high mileage, and escalating repair costs, the existing vehicle is no longer fiscally sustainable to maintain. To ensure continuation of the program, the Duluth Police Foundation has offered to donate a replacement vehicle.
