RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH, AND ACCEPT $15,196 IN FUNDS FROM THE MINNESOTA ASSOCIATION OF WORKFORCE BOARDS FOR REGIONAL PLANNING IMPLEMENTATION ACTIVITIES FUNDED BY THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (DEED).

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement substantially in the form attached hereto as Attachment 2, and to accept funds in the amount of $15,196 from the Minnesota Association of Workforce Boards, funded by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), for regional planning implementation of the WIOA Regional Plan and related activities for the period of April 10, 2026 through June 30, 2027.  Monies received under this agreement will be deposited in and expended from Fund 268 (workforce development), Agency 031 (grants division), Organization 6212.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes city officials to enter into an agreement and accept $15,196 from the Minnesota Association of Workforce Boards, funded through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), for planning and implementation of the WIOA Regional Plan and related activities for the period of April 10, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

 

The city receives regional planning funds annually to coordinate and implement regional planning activities with local workforce development area 3 in northeast Minnesota.  Duluth is designated as local workforce development area 4.  This request is budgeted through Workforce Development grant funds and is operational in nature.
