RESOLUTION AMENDING A CONTRACT WITH MSA PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING AND DESIGN SERVICES FOR THE LAKEWOOD WATER TREATMENT PLANT - STANDBY POWER PROJECT, TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT BY $259,200.00 FOR A NEW TOTAL OF $568,817.00.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that contract L30835 with MSA Professional Services, Inc. for professional engineering services for the Lakewood Water Treatment Plant - Standby Power project, be amended to include additional design services and to increase the amount by $259,200.00 for a new total of not to exceed $568,817.00 payable from Water Fund 510, Department/Agency 500 (Public Works & Utilities), Division 1905 (Capital), Object 5530 (Improvements Other than Buildings), city project no. 2135

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution amends contract L30835 with MSA Professional Services, Inc., by $259,200.00. This amendment, city requested, is necessary due to changes in the scope of the original contract for design changes as detailed in the attached amendment request from MSA Professional Services, Inc. The project includes electrical service upgrades to the treatment plant, backup generators, new transformer, and substation upgrades. The project is funded partially by the accepted Hazard Mitigation Grant through Homeland Security and Emergency Management Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Due to the complexity and time frame of bidding this project, the City requested the services of a consultant engineer for the design.
