Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA, BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, FOR USE OF OFFICE SPACE AT LAKE SUPERIOR COLLEGE AT NO COST TO THE CITY.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute and implement an agreement, substantially in the form of Exhibit A, with the state of Minnesota, Board of Trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, for use of office space at Lake Superior College at no cost to the city for the period of July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to enter into an agreement with the State of Minnesota, Board of Trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, for the use of office space at Lake Superior College at no cost to the City for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028.  The July 1, 2025 effective date ensures continuity of the agreement and avoids any gap in the agreement period.  The space will be used by Workforce Development staff to support employment and training activities.

This agreement also enables Lake Superior College (LSC) to satisfy its annual obligation under the CareerForce Infrastructure Funding Agreement (IFA).  Under the IFA, CareerForce partners share infrastructure costs based on their proportional use.  As a required non-collocated partner, LSC has elected to meet its annual infrastructure funding obligation through a non-cash, in-kind contribution by providing the City with office space at no cost.  This request is through Workforce Development and is operational in nature.
