CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to purchase water meters from Badger Meter, Inc. for the amount of $99,540.00, payable from 510-500-1905-5533;UtilB-WMET25, (water, Public Works and Utilities, capital (incl deprec/debt svc), capital improvements - revenue; utility projects budgeted, Water Meter and ERT Replacement Project).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of water meters from Badger Meter, Inc. for the amount of $99,540.00.
Badger meter is the sole source provider of software, parts and meters used to support the 28,000 Badger meters currently deployed across the City of Duluth’s water utility. Badger is a factory direct account providing an industry leading lead-free metal bodied residential meter that was chosen during the ARP meter replacement project in 2021. This meter is currently deployed across the City of Duluth and is configured to be compatible with the City of Duluth’s current Itron meter reading system. The City of Duluth’s, Meter shop staff has the proprietary training to configure, program, repair and test only Badger water meters. Badger meters and parts are used for inventory, maintenance and new installations.
